The Practice Advisor Reports contains a section titled New Patient Analysis.
What important information does this portion of the report provide?
New Patient Analysis
The New Patient Analysis statistics are calculated using the Active Patient Base by Last Visit.
The Active Patient Base by Last Visit is the total number of patients who have a Last Visit Date in the Family File that is within the previous number of months (from the Practice Advisor Setup dialog box), who have a Prov1 (primary provider) that has been selected for the report (from the Practice Advisor Report dialog box), and who have a Billing Type that has been selected for the report (from the Practice Advisor Report dialog box).

Practice Totals
The report shows the practice’s new patient totals.


# of New Patients by First Visit
The # of New Patients by First Visit is the number of patients who have a First Visit Date within a given date range and who have a Status of “Patient.”

The report displays the following # of New Patients by First Visit statistics:
• Previous Month – The # of New Patients by First Visit for the previous month. 100% will always appears in this box to indicate that the # of New Patients by First Visit is used as the base for all calculations.
• MTD – The # of New Patients by First Visit since the beginning of the month. 100% will always appears in this box to indicate that the # of New Patients by First Visit is used as the base for all calculations.
• YTD – The # of New Patients by First Visit since the beginning of the year (fiscal or calendar). 100% will always appears in this box to indicate that the # of New Patients by First Visit is used as the base for all calculations.


Tx Amount Diagnosed, New Patients
The Tx Amount Diagnosed, New Patients is the dollar amount of procedures for patients who have a First Visit Date within a given date range that meet any of the following criterion:
• A treatment-planned procedures that has a procedure date that is the same as the patient’s First Visit Date.
• A completed procedure that was treatment-planned with a procedure date any time on or after the patient’s First Visit Date and a treatment-planned date that is the same as the new patient’s First Visit Date.
• A completed procedure with a procedure date that is the same as the patient’s First Visit Date and that was not treatment-planned first.

The report displays the following Tx Amount Diagnosed for New Patients statistics:
• Previous Month – The Tx Amount Diagnosed, New Patients for the previous month.
• MTD – The Tx Amount Diagnosed, New Patients since the beginning of the month.
• YTD – The Tx Amount Diagnosed, New Patients since the beginning of the year (fiscal or calendar).


Tx Amount Accepted, New Patients
The Tx Amount Accepted, New Patients is the dollar amount of procedures for patients who have a First Visit Date within a given date range that meet any of the following criterion:
• A treatment-planned procedure that has a procedure date that is the same as the patient’s First Visit Date and that is attached to a treatment plan case that has been accepted, regardless of the date the treatment plan case is accepted.
• A completed procedure that was treatment-planned and that has a treatment-planned date that is the same as the patient’s First Visit Date.
• A completed procedure with a procedure date that is the same as the patient’s First Visit Date and that was not treatment-planned first.

The report displays the following Tx Amount Accepted by New Patients statistics:
• Previous Month – The Tx Amount Accepted, New Patients for the previous month. The percentage (%) in this box is the Tx Amount Accepted, New Patients for the previous month divided by the Tx Amount Diagnosed, New Patients for the previous month (multiplied by 100 and then rounded to the nearest whole number).
• MTD – The Tx Amount Accepted, New Patients since the beginning of the month. The percentage (%) in this box is the Tx Amount Accepted, New Patients since the beginning of the month divided by the Tx Amount Diagnosed, New Patients since the beginning of the month (multiplied by 100 and then rounded to the nearest whole number).
• MTD Benchmark – The new patient analysis benchmark range from the Other Benchmarks tab of the KPI Benchmarks Setup dialog box.
• MTD Variance – The MTD minus the average of the MTD Benchmark (see Variance Calculations).
• YTD – The Tx Amount Accepted, New Patients since the beginning of the year (fiscal or calendar). The percentage (%) in this box is the Tx Amount Accepted, New Patients since the beginning of the year divided by the Tx Amount Diagnosed, New Patients since the beginning of the year (multiplied by 100 and then rounded to the nearest whole number).
• YTD Benchmark – The new patient analysis benchmark range that is derived from the MTD Benchmark.
• YTD Variance – The YTD minus the average of the YTD Benchmark (see Variance Calculations).

Average Tx Amt Diagnosed, New Patients
The Average Tx Amt Diagnosed, New Patients is the Tx Amount Diagnosed, New Patients divided by the number of new patients within a given date range.

The report displays the following Average Tx Amt Diagnosed for New Patients statistics:
• Previous Month – The Average Tx Amt Diagnosed, New Patients for the previous month.
• MTD – The Average Tx Amt Diagnosed, New Patients since the beginning of the month.
• MTD Benchmark – The new patient analysis benchmark range from the Other Benchmarks tab of the KPI Benchmarks Setup dialog box.
• MTD Variance – The MTD minus the average of the MTD Benchmark (see Variance Calculations).
• YTD – The Average Tx Amt Diagnosed, New Patients since the beginning of the year (fiscal or calendar).
• YTD Benchmark – The new patient analysis benchmark range that is derived from the MTD Benchmark.

The # of New Patients Referred BY Doctor/Person is the number of patients who have a First Visit Date within a given date range and who have a Referred BY Doctor/Person referral date that is the same as the patient’s First Visit Date. If a patient has multiple referrals, only the first one entered is used.

The report displays the following # of New Patients Referred BY Doctor/Person statistics:
• Previous Month – The # of New Patients Referred BY Doctor/Person for the previous month. The percentage (%) in this box is the # of New Patients Referred BY Doctor/Person for the previous month divided by the # of New Patients by First Visit for the previous month (multiplied by 100 and then rounded to the nearest whole number).
• MTD – The # of New Patients Referred BY Doctor/Person since the beginning of the month. The percentage (%) in this box is the # of New Patients Referred BY Doctor/Person since the beginning of the month divided by the # of New Patients by First Visit since the beginning of the month (multiplied by 100 and then rounded to the nearest whole number).

The # of New Patients Referred BY Marketing is the number of patients who have a First Visit Date within a given date range and who have a Referred BY Marketing referral date that is the same as the patient’s First Visit Date. If a patient has multiple referrals, only the first one entered is used.

Note: A marketing referral source is a doctor/other referral that has been flagged as a non-person (the Non-Person check box is selected).


The report displays the following # of New Patients Referred BY Marketing statistics:
• Previous Month – The # of New Patients Referred BY Marketing for the previous month. The percentage (%) in this box is the # of New Patients Referred BY Marketing for the previous month divided by the # of New Patients by First Visit for the previous month (multiplied by 100 and then rounded to the nearest whole number).
• MTD – The # of New Patients Referred BY Marketing since the beginning of the month. The percentage (%) in this box is the # of New Patients Referred BY Marketing since the beginning of the month divided by the # of New Patients by First Visit since the beginning of the month (multiplied by 100 and then rounded to the nearest whole number).
• MTD Benchmark – The new patient analysis benchmark range from the Other Benchmarks tab of the KPI Benchmarks Setup dialog box.
