Some offices have created a custom procedure code that they post as a type of documentation code to the Ledger (for example, when making a Patient Phone Call or documenting a Broken Appointment). Posting such a code automatically updates the Last Visit Date in the Family File.

In some areas of Dentrix, such as the Practice Advisor Report, a patient is determined to be active if they fit within a certain Last Visit Date time span. If that patient is already outside of 18 month window, they are considered “active” again according to the Last Visit Date.

DENTRIX has features available for documenting such things a Patient Phone Call or a Broken Appointment. However, if your office desires to add something to the patient Ledger, but not make a change the Last Visit Date, you may do one of the following:

- Rather than using a procedure code, post an adjustment.
You can create up to 64 different custom adjustment types in your system.

- or -

- After posting the procedure, manually change the Last Visit Date in the Family File.
